サンドブラストは研磨剤による機械的な表面加工方法である。例をあげれば、マイクロブラスト工法ではガラスをマスキングの形状によりエッチングし、孔あけ加工、穴あけ加工、溝加工、ハーフエッチングなどの微細加工を行う。穴径：30ミクロン、溝幅：20ミクロンまでの微細加工が可能

Sandblasting is a mechanical surface processing method using abrasives. For example, in the microblasting method, glass is etched according to the shape of the masking to perform micromachining such as drilling, hole drilling, grooving, and half-etching. コロナ／ガスプラズマによる表面改質は次のように行われる。高周波高電圧により、電極間にコロナ放電を起こさせ、発生するプラズマ（非平衡プラズマ、低温プラズマ）の化学的に活性（不安定）で反応性の高いラジカルを利用して、表面の有機物を除去したり、表面へ反応性の高い親水基を生成する。これにより、金属と樹脂の接着強度向上、金属材料及び樹脂材料に対するコーティング材の濡れ性向上、有機汚れの洗浄等のニーズに応える。

The mechanism of surface modification by corona/gas plasma is as follows. A high-frequency high voltage is used to generate a corona discharge between electrodes, and the generated plasma (non-equilibrium plasma, low-temperature plasma) is made chemically active (unstable), and highly reactive radicals are used to remove organic matter from the surface or to generate highly reactive hydrophilic groups on the surface. This makes it possible to improve the adhesion strength between metal and resin, improve the wettability of coating materials on metal and resin materials, and clean organic stains.
